Crassula ovata- 'Classic Jade'
Crassula ovata- 'Classic Jade'
Crassula ovata, or better known as Jade, is a great succulent for beginners. It’s a very popular variety that is hard to kill! It can grow as big as you would like, or kept small with regular pruning. It has a thick stalk and can be kept as a bonsai tree. When exposed to direct sunlight, the leaves get a pretty red/burgundy color!
All Crassula varieties can show little black or white dots on their leaves. Don’t worry if you see them- these are completely normal! The spots are water-transferring pores called "hydathodes" and not a sign of disease.
Comes in a 2” plastic pot.
CARE:
Watering:
Use the “soak and dry” method: water when the soil is dried out- about once every 8 days.
Light:
Filtered/partial sun, or low indoor light is best.
Soil:
Gritty, well-draining soil like a cacti/succulent potting mix. Adding coarse sand, pumice, or perlite to the soil will further prevent overwatering.
NOT safe for pets- keep in a place where they cannot reach.
